No, you do not need a referral to see a dietitian.

However, a lot of our clients do come to see us on recommendation from their GP.

If you are on a Medicare Care Plan through your GP, you may be eligible to access rebates to see a dietitian. You will require a form from your GP. This can entitle you to up to 5 allied health consultations per calendar year if you have chronic disease and require team care for the management of your health. These forms are called Chronic Disease Management Plans (CDMP) or Team Care Arrangement Plans (TCA).

If you have private health insurance and have dietitian cover, you may claim rebates for your sessions.

Please email us a copy of your referral prior to attending your consultation. This will ensure we have all the necessary information to process these for you and avoid delays in receiving your rebates.

Please note, we are NOT a bulk-billing practice. We require your payment for the consultation fee in full at the time of booking, we can then process your Medicare rebate on your behalf which will then be sent to your linked bank account with Medicare.

Or you will be issued with a receipt to claim with your private health fund via their app, website or relevant system. Every health fund and policy provides a different amount back, please contact you provider for details.

Please note, you cannot claim private health and Medicare on the same consultation due to differences in the codes.

Private: If you have private health insurance, depending on your policy and level of cover, you may be eligible for a rebate on your dietitian appointments. Please check with your insurer directly if you are covered and how much you will get back, as this varies from person to person.

To check your eligibility, please ask your insurer about rebates for item codes:

500 & 600: In-person consultations (initial & review)

301 & 302: Telehealth consultations (initial & review)

PHI rebates must be claimed manually using the receipt issued to you via email at the end of your appointment.

Medicare: You may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 5 allied health (including dietitian) appointments per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement Plan. These plans can only be generated by your GP and you must meet certain criteria for you to be eligible. Speak to your GP about this scheme and whether it is right for you.

Initial consultations go for 45-60 minutes, follow-up review consultations go for 20-30 minutes.

- If you have a referral, please bring it along.

- A food intake diary can be very helpful, but is not compulsory (this can be the last week or 2-3 days).

- Recent blood sugar recordings (if Diabetic).

- Any relevant test results, i.e. blood tests.

- Any food packaging you wish to discuss.

- Details of current medications or supplements.

‘APD’ stands for Accredited Practising Dietitian. To act as an APD, a dietitian must be a current member of the Dietitians Australia (DA). All members must commit to undertake a certain number of hours of continuing professional development (CPD) annually to maintain their APD membership status.

In summary, APDs are dietitians who have made a commitment to maintain up to date and familiar with the latest research, all while maintaining high practice standards.

Notably, APDs are bound by the DA (Dietitians Australia)’s Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics.

We require a minimum of 48 hours notice (2 full working days notice), if you need to cancel or change your appointment. If you provide less than 48 hours notice the full session will be charged. If you do not contact us, this will be considered a missed appointment, and you will be charged the full fee. This policy is in place to ensure that we can accommodate the needs of all our clients and ensure we continue to provide a responsive service.
