Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?

No, you do not need a referral to see a dietitian. However, if you are on a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA) from your GP, you may be eligible for rebates for up to 5 allied health consultations per calendar year. Private health insurance rebates may also apply depending on your cover. We are not a bulk-billing practice; payment is required in full at booking and rebates are processed afterwards.

What rebates are available for my consultation?

Private health: depending on your policy you may be eligible for a rebate — check with your insurer using item codes 500 & 600 (in-person) or 301 & 302 (telehealth). Medicare: up to 5 allied health appointments per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement, arranged through your GP.

How long is a consultation?

Initial consultations run 45-60 minutes. Follow-up review consultations run 20-30 minutes.

Do I need to bring anything to the consultation?

Bring your referral if you have one, a food diary if possible, recent blood glucose readings if diabetic, any relevant test results, food packaging you wish to discuss, and details of current medications or supplements.

APD stands for Accredited Practising Dietitian — a dietitian who is a current member of Dietitians Australia, completes ongoing professional development annually, and is bound by the DA Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

A minimum of 48 hours notice (2 full working days) is required to cancel or change your appointment. Less than 48 hours notice, or a missed appointment without contact, will be charged the full session fee.
